This site presents the work of two amateur aviation photographers and is growing to include much information on the aircraft, their designers and pilots. It is a long-term project that eventually will display one of the largest and most diverse collections of aviation photographs on the web, taken between 1947 and whenever you’re reading this. Along with the photos, it has information aimed at the interested non-specialist on every type and individual aircraft pictured, with separate pages documenting the significant museums and collections that own the vintage types. For the modeler, I try to include modeling notes on each aircraft’s page, with recommended kits.
The site is being built gradually, manufacturer by manufacturer and type by type. Construction will be a bit haphazard as I tackle different aircraft companies, large and small, based on how much time I can afford for scanning, processing, and researching the subject of each photo.
Probably the easiest way to find a plane you want on this site is to type whatever you know about it in the search bar at upper right. Whether it’s a manufacturer, airplane name or designation, serial number or the person or museum that owns it, the search function will find it. If you would like to take a browsing approach, you can look through the manufacturers represented so far in our database below. As the site gets built out, I’ll add the ability to browse by other things, such as the time period and primary function of the airplane. You can get back to this page from anywhere on the site by clicking the “Aircraft in Focus” title banner at the top or the “Home” link at the bottom.
