Twenty-two B-29s

Later this year, the most recently and full restored Boeing B-29 Superfortress is expected to take to the air in Wichita, Kansas.  The community of World War II airplane watchers has been watching the progress of the B-29 named “Doc” for some years.  I haven’t seen “Doc” or gotten any photos of it, but I have been thinking about B-29s lately, and have posted photos of twenty-two different airframes (plus a few unidentified) made by Dick and me over the years.  Dick was around Superforts a quite a bit in his early Air Force years, and several photos are of B-29s still in service in the 1950s.  Enjoy the galleries and get a sense of the preservation scene as it relates to this unique and impressive aircraft.
