Piasecki Helicopter Corp.

Frank Piasecki (1919-2008) was an American helicopter designer who made an exceptional contribution to the “tandem rotor” configuration of helicopters which feature two large lifting rotors at the front and rear of the aircraft rather than the more conventional single lifting rotor with small torque-countering rotor at the tail.  The Piasecki helicopter company was founded in Connecticut in 1946; after Piasecki was forced out of this company, it was renamed Vertol.  Vertol has been a division of Boeing since 1960.
