Travel Air Manufacturing Co.

Travel Air was founded in Wichita, Kansas, by three gifted airplane designers, each of whom later achieved fame with a spun-off company:  Walter Beech, Clyde Cessna and Lloyd Stearman.  Not surprisingly, the company produced some great airplanes, even though it only existed for four years, founded in 1925 and liquidated in bankruptcy in 1929.  Travel Air built 16 different models of aircraft during that time, ranging from three-seat open-cockpit biplanes to enclosed cabin light transport monoplanes.
