The Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum is located on the grounds of the former Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. It resides in one of the original hangars that is one of the few remaining traces of the base, which has been repurposed as a subdivision, golf course, park and shopping centers. Appropriate to its locations association with the USAF Strategic Air Command, the museum features an exceptional collection of well-restored Cold War USAF fighters and bombers, including the mainstay B-52 and B-1 bombers, a nearly complete collection of “century-series” fighters (F-100, F-101, F-102, F-104, F-105, F-111, missing only an F-106) and assorted other military and civil aircraft. The most prized older aircraft in the collection is a B-18 Bolo. The collection continues to grow and has an active restoration program. Its web site is here.
